Facebook

I have a new obsession-Facebook!!  I just love it.  I find it amazing to see where my friends have ended up.  I love when I add a new friend.  It is a lot like blogging.  I can't wait to log on to see what people all over are doing.  Don even added the Facebook app to my iPhone!!  Heaven help me now.

Kindergarten Class Party

Our Little Reindeer
Jackson preparing to paint

Jackson had a marathon first class party!!  They ate pizza, made:  snow globes, snowman bags, lightbulb necklaces, place mats, magnets, reindeer puppets, candy cane ornaments, candy cane reindeer and about a dozen things I have forgotten.  They also played bingo and got a huge stocking filled with goodies!  It was a grand time.  I got to stay for almost all of the party!!!  Don was on hand too.  He was in charge of the hot glue while I escaped to my own class party.  Way to go Daddy!

TIny Tigers

This is Jackson getting a pep talk from the coach.  He didn't score the second game and was very upset! :(
Jackson dribbling down the court.  Notice Coach Morris is there if help is needed.  In the Pre-K/K league, the coach stays on the court.

This year seemed like the perfect year to sign Jackson up for basketball.  We are part of the Tiny Tigers!!  We practice every Tuesday & Thursday for one hour.  Don & I are usually both at the practice to cheer on our "Tiny Tiger."  We won our first game 6 to 0!  Jackson even made a basket.  Our second game we won 12 to 8.  Jackson didn't make a basket, but made a lot of shots.  At Jackson's third game, he was the MVP he scored 6 points-and another two, but it was for the other team!!(oops-since this is pre-k & K his shot didn't count for either team!!) Don and I have decided to let the Coach coach and we will just cheer.  Every time we try to help jackson, he just stares at us and forgets he is even in a game.  We have to admit that watching these games are a hoot.  Some kids dance around, cry, run around with the ball, pass to the wrong team and the list goes on and on.  We can't wait to see what fun the next game brings!

ICE!!!

I was expecting a rough trip to work this morning, but was surprised with only a few patches of ice!  Jackson and I have to cross at least 15 overpasses or bridges on our 30 min. ride to school each day.  I fish-tailed on three bridges, but made it to school in one piece.  When we left school today, Jackson found this still attached to my car.  I made him throw it outside, but he made me promise to find some when I got home.  So, like every mother of an only child, I froze my rear off finding a few.  We put them in the freezer for safe keeping!!  He made us keep his tiny snowman in the freezer last year.

BUCKLEY'S NEW SWEATER

I tried to find a sweater small enough for Buckley, but it was no where to be found. We decided to improvise and make him one out of a sock. I think it turned out pretty good!

We even made a detachable hood!

What a cutie!

BUCKLEY

This is Buckley. He only weighs 1 1/2 pounds. He is half Schnauzer, half Chihuahua. Here is the story of how he became part of our family.

Today after Jackson's first basketball game (they won and Jackson made a basket!), we went to Nana & Papa's house. We told Jackson that NayNay got him an early Christmas present.

When Jackson walked in the house he saw the box and said, "A puppy! Can I keep it for real and take it home?" Buckley even wrote Jackson a note telling him that he would be Jackson's new best friend and that Jackson would have to feed him, walk him and play with him. We will see how that goes!

I thought it would be fun to take a stroll down memory lane!  It looks as if we missed a few years between 2003 and 2006.  I will chalk it up to the "sick years."  I'm sure someone in the family has the other years.  Enjoy!!

JACKSON & THE COCONUT

As you can see, Jackson wasn't too sure what to think about the "present" that Papa gave him. Of course he wanted to crack it open right away!

Health Update

As you all know, Jackson has Common Variable Immunodeficiency. This disorder is a challenge that Jackson will battle all his life. He has chronic sinus infections, asthma and allergies. Because his immune system is missing parts, he catches everything going around. The treatment is IVIG or Sub-q IG. We switched to Sub-q about three months ago to raise his levels. (I'm playing nurse and getting better each time!) We will have blood drawn on our next visit and are hoping for higher levels than with IVIG.
About 14 months ago, Jackson developed a cough and it has not gone away. He had a sinus surgery in May and his Asthma is under control. So, Dr. Herrscher (our immunologist) decided to start checking things off the list of possibilities. We visited with the GI doctor and decided Jackson needed a scope and ph probe study. Monday was the big day. Jackson has had this same scope and probe once before when he was little. The doctor was looking to see if he was having an allergic reaction to his own drainage or if he was refluxing. He took pics of the throat and inserted a ph probe. The probe goes in the nose and down the back of the throat with a tiny computer chip. The tube is attached to small computer that tests the level of acid. It was not a fun 24 hrs! He was sore, could hardly eat or drink and was sniffing the tube back in all day :( This just happened to be the same day that his sub-q treatment was due. How unlucky! These are some of the saddest pictures :(

UPDATE: We heard back from the GI doctor and Jackson got an all clear. He said that Jackson had a huge patch of thick, yellow mucus in the back of his throat. So, we have made an appointment with our wonderful ENT, Dr. Coffey, for a CAT scan. She has put us on a three week round of antibiotics. It is the best of times, it is the worst of times, but Jackson keeps going! He is truly a gift from God. He told Nana and I that he was glad that we didn't have to have the probe because it hurt and he didn't want us to hurt-TALK ABOUT MELT YOUR HEART AND WATER YOUR EYES!!!

Watch Dog

We have a new program at school called Watch Dogs.  Dads come and help out the teachers for a day.  Daddy was a big hit at recess.  He was extra tired after his big day.  Jackson can't wait for Daddy to come back!
