ABOUT JACKSON'S DISORDER

When Jackson was about 6 months old, and after months of reoccuring and chronic infections, we found out that he had CVID.
"Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a disorder that involves the following: (1) low levels of most or all of the immunoglobulin (Ig) classes, (2) a lack of B lymphocytes or plasma cells that are capable of producing antibodies, and (3) frequent bacterial infections."
Check out the link for more information on these disorders.

Jackson's disorder affects his upper respitory and sinuses, thus, chronic sinus infections, colds and asthma. He has had multiple surgeries and PIC Lines to deal with his illnesses. He has been receiving IGIV infusions once a months since he was 2 years old. It takes 4-5 hours and it's not fun, but it has to be done. Having said all this, you would never know Jackson is sick. He runs around like crazy (I don't know where he got that from!) and is a happy little boy!
